• Copy-editing: editing for style, structure, clarity and consistency (on-screen or hard-copy). This can range from a simple read-through to a structural edit or full rewrite, as per your brief.
• Writing: reports, newsletters, best-practice documents, website copy.
• Proofreading: checking for typos and layout errors (including artwork, tables and indexes).
• Project management: managing books, newsletters or journals from authoring through to printing or online delivery.
• Process review: streamlining publishing systems, producing new guidelines (e.g. house style guide, schedules, author guidelines).

Prices

Industry-standard rates, as recommended by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, are:

• copy-editing (on screen or hard-copy) £21 per hour;
• thesis editing £10 per 1000 words;
• proofreading £18 per hour;
• project management £27 per hour.
